I have been to Maili Dam only once in my life and I really liked this place very much. I was taken here by my elder sister. This place is very calm and serene. There is no rush of people and the atmosphere is very clean. You feel closer to nature/God at this place. There are places where you can sit (on the grass) with your family and have your lunch/brunch. Moreover, the sight of accumulated water also fills you with awe and wonder.
Whether it is the Sulaipat Dam in Odisha or Mukutminpur Dam in Bengal or Chandil Dam in Jharkhand, I have visited all of them, but nowhere did I find pleasant weather like Maili Dam.
If you want to do trekking in the mountains, then you can also go to Cheeni Valley (Dera Baba Dayal Das Ji Chini Ghaati) which is about 7 km from the dam.
By the way, there are many places to visit inside the Hoshiarpur district because it is a hilly area and is close to Una and Kangra. So, Himachal is also accessible from here.
