Wild elephants often come here. The forest department has issued a notice cautioning visitors against wild elephants and urging them not to venture into the forest.

At the Tapoban Valmiki Ashram, a streamlet known as Sita Nala flows by. A tributary of the Subarnarekha River, it originates in the Chandbila forest and meets the Subarnarekha near Khandalpara, now known as the Kodopal Eco-Tourism Spot.

History Of The Bengal Tapoban Valmiki’s Ashram:

This forest land is considered the holiest among the locals since ancient times. It is believed that this place was the ‘Ashram” of the great Valmiki of Ramayana. One can visit Luv-kush mandir, Sita nala here.
