Kharagpur Durga Puja Pandal 2022: Hello, friends first of all congratulations to all of you because West Bengal has achieved a new crown of glory. UNESCO, the cultural unit of the United Nations, has included Durga Puja in the heritage list.

UNESCO on Wednesday announced the inclusion of Durga Puja in the representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

This decision was taken on the second day of the 16th session of the Intergovernmental Committee that was held in Paris from 13 to 18 December 2021. This is a piece of great news not only for Bengal but for the whole of India.

Let us inform you that the Bengal government has applied to UNESCO to include Durga Puja in the heritage list. Now UNESCO has accepted this application. Every year Durga Puja is organized in September-October. This is an important festival celebrated in India. It is specially celebrated in Bengal. This is a 10-day festival. It is also celebrated as Navratras all over the country.

Earlier this recognition was given to Kumbh Mela in 2017 and Yoga in 2016. The traditional brass and copper craft of Punjab was recognized in 2014, while the ritual singing of Sankirtana from Manipur was recognized in 2013.

2022 Durga Puja Calendar

Durga Puja is a famous Hindu festival when Goddess Durga is worshipped. Durga Puja is also known as Durgotsava. Durgotsava refers to all five days of festivity and these five days are observed as Shashthi, Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, Maha Navami, and Vijayadashami.
