The Mela was initially started by the king of Ghatshila and now as a tradition, it happens every year in the month of October for fifteen days on the bank of the dam.

During the Mela, the Santhal tribe displays famous Santhali Handicrafts such as Madhubani art and paintings, Warli paintings, Dhokra arts clothes, earthen pots, lamps, jewelry, etc.

The road leading to the dam is not that great but the view after reaching is definitely worth it.
