The Journey

Journey to Kuari Pass Trek

At the foothills

The journey starts from Dehradun. From Dehradun, the journey begins with a drive amidst nature which you can witness from the windows of the vehicle. The drive stops at proper intervals for a break. Break from the unnecessary thoughts of the world, and break to witness the Himalayan panorama. The 11-hour uphill drive is filled with streams, rivers, and picturesque scenery. The drive takes you through the beautiful sightings of the Panch Prayag- 5 holy confluences to form the river Ganga. The 11-hour drive ends at Joshimath campsite. After staying the night in the campsite amidst the shining stars, the trek leaves for Gulling, the second destination of the journey early in the morning.

After early breakfast, a drive to Dhak Village begins the journey of the second day. The real trekking of the Kuari Pass begins here. The trail of the trek is well-defined. It passes along the mountain ridge with a series of steep and gradual ascents. The trek reaches Kharchi Village in around 20 minutes.

At the Trail

The trekkers then move towards lower Tugasi, which is filled with wheat fields, flower beds, small streams, and thatched-roofed huts. The trail is covered in 45 minutes. The tents are then pitched in meadows nearby overlooking the grand mountains through the eyes’ window.

The trek on the third day passes through dense forest cover. The peak of the Hathi Ghodi Mountain appears through the sky while passing via Khullar. The evening of the day is spent playing games at the campsite.

The next day trekkers leave for a two-hour trek atop Jhandi Dhar. A gradually descending trail from here will bring you to Kuari Pass, a window to nature’s grandeur.
