Gopegarh Eco Park (Midnapore) or Gopegarh Heritage & Nature Eco-tourism Centre is situated at Gopegarh under Kankabati Gram Panchayet of Midnapore Sadar Development Block in Paschim Midnapore District. It is 4.5 K.M. from Midnapore Railway Station.
Gopegarh was once a fort of the Gope king, which is now transformed into an eco-park. This is a nice place to spend your weekend, where you can remain surrounded by natural beauty.
This eco-park is situated on the banks of River Kasai or Kangsabati and is basically an isolated place.
Places to see at Gopegarh:-
Gopegarh was once a fort of the Gope kings and the name is derived from it and has been transformed into the eco-park. The park has an amazing flower garden in the fort including Duranda, Vacaranda, Tekosa, Sal, and Bakul trees and strewn with soft lush green grass.
The park has a pond with paddle boating facilities for recreation along with the children’s park.
There is a watchtower constructed for the panoramic views of the river and the rail bridge over the sparkling waters.
There are cottages available to stay for the visitors in the park. A stroll on the flowerbeds in the evening and the peaceful surrounding amidst the lush green nature will soothe anyone’s mind. Ample green space with ruins of an ancient fort, plus gardens, a kids’ park, a lookout & a cafe.
A musical fountain is worth spending time with your loved ones.

Among the nearby attractions, you can definitely visit the Arabari Forest Range which is home to herds of elephants who often enter the forest from the Dalma range. You can also visit Gongoni, a naturally formed canyon located on the banks of the River Shilabati towards West Medinipur, and also Gurguripal Eco-park
Gurguripal Eco-park, nestled in Gurguripal scrub forests on the banks of river Kansabati river at a distance of 25 km away from Kharagpur and just 10 km from Medinipur, West Bengal.
The park is known for its scenic beauty and mesmerizing atmosphere it is in. The park has facilities for visitors of all age groups. There is a small lake with boating facilities available, with a nominal charge for visitors to go around to have a look at the park with a different theme. How to reach Gopegarh:-
By roadways or railways, you have to first reach Midnapore. Leaving the city you have to continue towards the wild, which takes a different look in accordance with the varying season. 3 km from there, you will reach Gopegarh Eco-park. You can reach here from Medinipur station by Toto for Rs100. You can stay here for Rs500. But advance booking is required.
Best time to visit Gopegarh:-
The best time to visit the park is in the months of October to February and the park is open to visitors during timings 11 AM to 7:30 PM. This place is open around the year, but it is better if the rainy season is avoided for visiting Gopegarh.
