The serene beauty of Kumari village near Guruguria in Similipal, located in the heart of the Mayurbhanj district, was adorned with a delicate layer of snow, turning it into a winter wonderland.

Sai Kiran, deputy director of Similipal Northern Wildlife Division, shared the temperature readings, which revealed a cold morning. At 6 am, UBK (Upper Barah Kamuda) recorded a low of 01 degrees Celsius, while Chahala recorded a low of 6 degrees Celsius and Nawana recorded a low of 06 degrees Celsius. The gentle touch of nature has given this corner of Similipal National Park a serene and magical atmosphere.

Across various locations in Similipal, the temperatures were recorded as follows: Ramatirtha at 11 degrees Celsius, Gurguria at 08 degrees Celsius, and Kiajhari at 10 degrees Celsius.

According to the latest reports from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), G Udayagiri in Kandhamal and Phulbani experienced the most frigid conditions, with mercury plummeting to 8.4 degrees Celsius and 8.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. Kirei in Sundergarh recorded a night temperature of 8.3 degrees Celsius, while Koraput witnessed 9.5 degrees Celsius, and Rourkela saw 9.8 degrees Celsius.

Several other locations experienced a night temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, including Chipilima, Angul, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, and Daringbadi.

In the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, the cold spell persisted with temperatures dropping to 13.5 degrees Celsius and 13.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
