Anil takes care of 75 differently-abled children by becoming their father
Anil takes care of 75 differently-abled children by becoming their father: Seeing a poor mother with her disabled child, Agra’s Anil Joseph thought of helping more such children. He started an NGO for such poor and destitute disabled children and built a shelter home, which has become home to 75 special children today.
Today, Anil Joseph of Agra, who is running an organization called Aashray for differently-abled children, knew from a very young age that he had to live not only for himself but also for society. With this thought, he did Diploma in Special Education in the year 2002, after which he started working as a special educator with an NGO named ‘Deva International Society’.
But the turning point in his life came when on one visit to a private clinic in Agra, he saw a disabled child with a poor woman. Talking to The Better India, Anil says that the family of the woman blames the mother for their child’s condition. Even her husband keeps threatening to leave her. Anil thought what is the fault of this innocent child in all this?
Anil decided to give shelter to that child and started work by taking a room on rent. With time, the story of his efforts reached other people and one after the other many such disabled children started coming to stay with him.
Finally, in the year 2005, Anil formed an organization to take this work forward. He started working on the mental and physical condition of disabled children. He named his house ‘Ashray’. Today 75 differently-abled children live in his shelter.
Anil gave shelter to children who were rejected by their own people
Many children come to this shelter from rural areas of Agra and Ghaziabad. There are many children who were abandoned by their family members because of their disabilities. But here Anil is trying to change the condition of all of them.
Anil has also made a lot of efforts to increase the IQ of children and to give them different types of vocational training. The shelter today has a staff of 18, including seven special educators, a driver, a helper, and a cook. Along with this, doctors, physiotherapists, and psychologists also visit him regularly.
More than his family, Anil cares for the children of his organization. He says that as long as possible, he will keep trying to support them and make them self-reliant. You can contact Anil at 9058596091 to help him in this endeavor.
