Rani Mukerji speaks on Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway – “The purpose of this film is greater”
Rani stated, “The purpose of this film goes beyond box office success because it needs to create awareness around the stories that happen every day to parents living outside the country.”
During her chat, the acclaimed Hum Tum actor divulged that she drew inspiration from her mother for her portrayal of Mrs. Chatterjee and jokingly added, “I saw it as someone who is so connected to her roots.”
Recently, the film’s makers unveiled the official trailer, which is based on a true story, and it has since received an overwhelming response from fans.
The trailer commences with a scene of Mrs. Chatterjee (played by Rani) contentedly going about her daily life in Norway, enjoying the company of her husband and two children, Shubh and Shuchi. However, the family soon finds themselves in the midst of a crisis as officials from the country’s child protection authority barge into their home unannounced and take their children away.
Later, Mrs. Chatterjee discovers that her children have been taken away from her and placed in foster care after the authorities deemed that the parents were unable to provide proper care for them. The latter part of the trailer showcases Rani’s struggle against the Norwegian foster care system to regain custody of her children.
Directed by Ashima Chibber and produced by Zee Studios and Emmay Entertainment, “Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway” is set to release in theaters on March 17th.
