Samibrukhya Hills, the most important mythological site, in Debala panchayat under the Kaptipada block in the Mayurbhanj region, was accorded the tag of a tourism spot in 2003 but some basic facilities like drinking water and electricity have not been put in place there yet. It is strange that many people living just within 40 kilometers radius of these sites are not aware of these beautiful places.
As the local says, the five Pandav brothers were hiding with their wife Draupadi below a tree. That tree has become the stone in Kaliyuga (Kalyug). This single stone forms a hill which is Samibrukshya. The sides are very steep to climb. Every year a fair is held at Samibrukhya towards the 14th of January (Makar Sankranti).
