But there is a solution to these problems you can come to Pelling from Gangtok by shared car.
Instead of staying in a hotel in a quiet environment, you can stay in a homestay, How to come? where to stay? We will discuss this later, let’s explore the tourist spots of Pelling. The main attractions of Pelling are the Skywalk and Waterfalls. Like other places in Sikkim, the city is also very clean. This city is divided into three tiers Upper, Middle, and Lower Pelling.
Glass Bridge of Pelling
If you want to see India’s first glass bridge you have to come to Upper Pelling. If you come with two-wheelers, be careful. Here, the entry fee is Rs. 100 per head. It has one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim. Presently, it is being renovated. To see the old monastery you have to walk along the side road. Several small Buddhist stupas are scattered around. The giant statue of Lord Buddha is called chenrezig in the Tibetan language, another name is Padma Pani.
Sikkim has four statues and a new monastery that offers stunning views of Kanchenjunga. Next to the monastery is a glass bridge known as the Skywalk. Walking on it feels like you are floating in the air. The Skywalk starts from an entry/exit gate and follows a circular path, which ends at the same point. From there, you can climb stairs to reach the statue. Tourists come here to take selfies with Kanchenjunga in the background.
Singshore Bridge or Kanchenjunga Falls
Next, you can visit the Singshore Bridge or Kanchenjunga Falls, Asia’s second-highest hanging bridge. These attractions are located at the opposite end of Pelling Town. On the way to the Singshore Bridge, you will pass by the Changi Falls. The sound of falling water from above creates a beautiful atmosphere, although the road is almost destroyed by the water. If you have time, climb the side stairs to get a closer view of the waterfall. Just 12 km further, you will reach the Singshore Bridge, which connects Pelling to Uttarey.
Standing on the bridge, you will be impressed by the lush green views around you. If you cross the bridge a little further, you can see the Alpine Cherry Factory. Next, head towards the Kanchenjunga Falls. On the way, you can see the Rimbi Falls, which is named after the water that flows into the Rimbi River. There is no entry fee, but parking is limited, which often leads to traffic jams during the season.
Finally, you will reach Kanchenjunga Falls, where the entry fee is thirty rupees per person. Initially, many people mistake the small waterfalls for the Kanchenjunga Falls, but the real waterfall is up the stairs. The flow of water here is much faster than the other two waterfalls.
You can also enjoy adventure activities like ziplining for Rs 100 per person. After spending some time here, while coming back, you can visit the Khecheopalri Lake. This lake is very sacred to Buddhists and is known as the Wishing Lake, as it is believed that prayers made here are fulfilled. When viewed from above, the lake looks like footprints and according to legend, these are the footprints of Lord Shiva, hence it’s other name Shivalik Footprints.
You may doubt the truth of the local beliefs, but locals say that if a leaf falls into the lake, the bird picks it up immediately. Spend some time here and you can see all this for yourself. There is also a monastery on the roadside near the lake. By trekking to the top of the hill, you can get a spectacular view of the lake.
