Sundarban Tour Package From Kolkata: Sundarbans, the largest delta in the world, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located at the southernmost tip of the Indian state of West Bengal, it is also known as the land of mangroves and the Royal Bengal Tigers. The mangrove forest of Sunderbans is the largest in the world. In this video, we will take you on a 3-day tour of this remarkable place, starting from Kolkata.
On Day 1:
On Day 1, begin your journey from Kolkata, the nearest metropolitan city to Sunderbans, which is the easiest way to reach the delta. Upon reaching the Gosaba jetty, climb a few steps to reach the mainland. Just beside the jetty, there is Rabindranath Tagore’s bungalow, where the poet once stayed for a few days.
After exploring Tagore’s bungalow, you can visit Sir Hamilton’s bungalow, which is a 10-minute walk from Tagore’s bungalow through a local market. Here, you can see local shops run by the residents of Gosaba and can learn about the region’s rural lifestyle.
Crossing the market, you can reach the bungalow where Sir Daniel Hamilton lived. He was a Scottish businessman who established a zamindari here and had done many things to uplift the lifestyle of the rural people of this region. It will take around an hour to complete the tour of these two bungalows.
After completing the tour, you can board the lounge boat again and move towards Pakhirala for a night stay. On this route you can enjoy, a delicious lunch served on the boat, which is a unique experience to have while admiring the beauty of majestic rivers. It took around 3 hours to reach Pakhirala from Gosaba.
In the evening, you can be entertained by a tribal dance show performed by local dance troops, which is a mesmerizing experience.
On Day 2:
Wake up early in the morning and head to Sudhanyakhali Tiger camp. You can enjoy a traditional Bengali breakfast in the boat while passing through the backwaters of Sunderbans. The journey takes around 2 hours, during which you will be mesmerized by the beautiful mangrove forests on both sides of the river.
Upon reaching Sudhanyakhali Tiger camp, you have to walk along a fenced road that passed through the vast mangrove forest towards the watchtower. you can spot some monkeys in the trees standing beside the road. From the watchtower, you will get a closer view of the unique forests and mudflats, and even you can see some crocodiles and wild boars. you can spend an hour at the camp before moving towards another Tiger camp at Dobanki, following the backwater trails.
At Dobanki camp, you can see dense mangrove forests and mudflats. The fenced road through the forest is just the same as the previous one, but here, the forest is denser than the Sudhanyakhali Tiger camp. You can see the lush green mangrove forest spread miles after miles lying before you. The view from the top viewpoint is truly awe-inspiring.
In the afternoon, you can take a stroll to the Pakhirala market to explore the local shops and culture. In the evening, you can enjoy a play on the mythological story about the Goddess of the forest “Bonbibi” performed by local performers, which is truly captivating.
Day 3:
On the third and final day of the tour, begin by visiting Jharkali Animal Park, a large park where you can enjoy a leisurely walk and observe the forest and its water bodies up close. You will have the opportunity to see numerous monkeys playing in their natural habitat, as well as crocodiles lounging in the sun near ponds.
Additionally, the park has a separate play area for children. Take your time exploring the park, spending around an hour in this serene forest setting. Afterward, board the boat and begin the journey back to Kolkata, taking with you memories that will last a lifetime.
