Explore Darjeeling

If you find yourself yearning to explore Darjeeling but are unsure of where to begin, fret not, for you have stumbled upon the perfect guide. Allow me to share all the essential information, from train travel to must-visit tourist destinations, right here in this article.

Train Guide

Today, our journey commenced with a slight delay as the Rajdhani Express train arrived two hours behind schedule. Originally planning to take a sharing taxi from Siliguri to Darjeeling, the unexpected delay prompted a change in plans. Opting for a private cab instead, we set off for Darjeeling around 3:30 in the afternoon, basking in the scenic beauty of tea gardens and witnessing a breathtaking sunset along the way.

As we traversed the route known as Pankhabari, also referred to as Rohini, our anticipation for the adventures that awaited us in Darjeeling grew. Upon reaching our hotel around 6:30 in the evening, located on Mall Road, we encountered the challenge of navigating through the steep terrain and dragging our luggage along. Nevertheless, the promise of a cozy retreat awaited us inside.

Accommodations In Darjeeling:

Speaking of accommodations in Darjeeling, most hotels operate on a per-person basis, including meals in their packages. For instance, our room, priced at Rs. 1500, accommodated both myself and my father, totaling Rs. 3000 for our stay, inclusive of meals. Opting for the meal package proves to be economical, typically ranging between Rs. 650 to Rs. 700 per day, covering breakfast and dinner.

Day-1

Our first day in Darjeeling was spent exploring Lamahatta Eco Park and Tinchuley, setting the stage for an exciting.

Day 2:

Today’s itinerary commenced with a visit to the Peace Pagoda and Japanese Temple, Darjeeling’s sightseeing options are often categorized into 3-point and 5-point tours, offering flexibility in exploration. Choosing a personalized mix of attractions, I decided to forego popular destinations like Tiger Hill and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, opting instead for a curated experience tailored to my preferences.

Continuing our adventure, we made our way to the enchanting Rock Garden, braving the challenging terrain to witness cascading waterfalls amidst lush greenery. Along the journey, I shared insights into planning a seamless Darjeeling tour, emphasizing the importance of timing and prioritization, especially when it comes to popular attractions like the ropeway.

Our final destination for the day was Batasia Loop, where the iconic toy train made a brief stop amidst enthusiastic crowds eager to capture the moment. Delving into the history of this engineering marvel, I marveled at the ingenuity of its construction, offering a panoramic view of Darjeeling’s landscape.

Concluding our Day 2 excursion with a visit to Dali Monastery, I reflected on the serenity and splendor that define Darjeeling’s essence. As the day drew to a close, I found solace in the knowledge that every moment spent amidst Darjeeling’s beauty was truly priceless, transcending the confines of time.

Best Time to Visit Darjeeling

The best time is during the summer months from March to May, when the weather is dry and pleasant, and nature is in bloom. Alternatively, consider visiting in the period just before winter, from August to October, or during the peak winter season from November to February, depending on your travel preferences.

Although monsoon visits are possible, it is advisable to avoid mountain roads during heavy rains, as outdoor activities may be restricted.
