Yes friends, today we will talk about the Serai Noor Mahal of Punjab. Serai Noor Mahal is also known as Noor Mahal Di Sara (ਨੂਰ ਮਹਿਲ ਦੀ ਸਰਾਂ) in Punjab by local residence.
In childhood, I used to visit this place many times and used to wonder whose house it would be and who would have built it. Because my Paternal Aunt’s (Bhuaji) house was in Gursian Piran village, she often used to take me here and introduced me to its history.

A large number of tourists from India and abroad come to see this inn. Noorjahan Mahal is at Nurmahal, 40 km from Jalandhar. When this palace was built, people used to go from Lahore to Delhi through the main gate of this palace.
Due to the negligence of the government, some parts of the palace have turned into ruins.
History:
Jahangir had got the huge Noormahal built in the year 1613 at her birthplace to fulfill Noorjahan’s heart’s desire. Jahangir built this huge palace in 1613 at the behest of his Begum Nur Jahan. According to history, Nur Jahan was born at this place when her father Mirza Gyara Mohammad was going to Delhi.
Inside this beautiful palace, there used to be Dak Bungalow, Rangmahal, and Mosque along with many other such wonderful things. But now only a few things are left in the palace. It is said that Nur Jahan was very fond of birds.
That’s why 48 brackets and two bastions were built in the palace, which is still present today. There is a palanquin at the main gate of the fort. Along with the, two elephants with their trunk raised to welcome are also made.
Schools & Police Stations Running In The Fort Today:
Due to lack of care, today many parts of Noor Mahal Sarai have become ruins. Very few tourists come here to visit because it is not as famous as the Taj Mahal.
Before the Taj Mahal, Jahangir had built the Noor Mahal in love with Noor Jahan, must visit if you go to Punjab. Those who know its importance, they definitely come to see the inn of Noor Mahal. Presently schools and police stations are functioning here.

The inn is a remarkable specimen of Asian architecture. Nurmahal Sarai is perhaps the only known monument of Jalandhar. This historical monument is now looked after by the Archaeological Survey of India.
Some Facts:
It is also heard that Sarai Noor Mahal was originally built by the Maratha brothers who decided not to return to Pune after the defeat of the Marathas by Ahmad Shah Abdali in 1745 AD. Further, some descendants of the same family migrated to the village Kahnuwan in District Gurdaspur, Punjab.
