The Cyclone Sitrang is most likely to skirt Odisha coast and move towards West Bengal and Bangladesh coast.
The official weatherman confirmed that a low-pressure area has formed over the Andaman Sea on Thursday and will intensify into a depression by Saturday and subsequently a cyclone by Monday.
After intensifying into a deep depression on October 23, it is very likely to recurve northwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm over west-central and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal by October 24.
It is likely to move gradually north-northeastwards and reach the West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts on October 25, skirting the Odisha coast, the IMD bulletin said.
