Turkey Trip Plan From India Greece Turkey Travel Guide With Details: Turkey, the scenic country that lies at the border of two continents, Asia and Europe, is renowned for its stunning landscapes, historic sites, beautiful valleys, towering mountains, and rugged coastline.

On the other hand, Greece offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere with its sun-kissed beaches, ancient civilization winds, scenic islands scattered like gems in the sea, and friendly locals that welcome all travel enthusiasts with open arms. In this article, we will provide a comprehensive travel guide to these two beautiful countries from India.

Best Time To Visit

The best time to visit from India is from April to September. To reach Turkey, you can take a flight to Istanbul, the capital of Turkey, from New Delhi. Most flights have a stopover in Kuwait or Dubai, so it’s advisable to check the route for the minimum fare and ensure regular flight services are available.

From Istanbul, you can easily get a flight to Athens, the capital of Greece. Finally, you can return to India from Athens. In this travel guide, we will start our tour from Istanbul, the largest and most populated city in Turkey.

Istanbul

Istanbul boasts a rich cultural heritage that can be witnessed in the many historical structures present here. These structures are directly connected to the Roman and Ottoman Empires, and due to their imperial grandeur, Istanbul is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Day 2

On the second day of the tour, start with a city sightseeing tour in Istanbul. First, visit the famous Topkapi Palace, which served as the administrative quarters of the Ottoman Empire over 400 years ago and is now one of Istanbul’s major museums. The Grand Palace includes lavish courtyards and stunningly decorated rooms, with the main place to visit is the harem where Sultan’s concubines used to live.

Next, visit the iconic Hagia Sophia, which was originally a cathedral and is now a museum and a prime attraction of Istanbul. No tour of Istanbul is complete without visiting the famous Blue Mosque, a huge and beautiful mosque located just opposite Hagia Sophia. The Hippodrome of Constantinople is located in the Blue Mosque Square and was a public square in ancient times used for activities like chariot races, gladiator fights, and many more.

Lastly, visit the largest cistern in the city of Istanbul, the Basilica Cistern, built underneath the Stoa Basilica. It has hundreds of decorated columns. End the day with shopping at the Grand Bazaar, the most famous place for shopping in Istanbul.

Day 3

On the third day, take a flight from Istanbul to Cappadocia, an ancient district on the rocky plateau of the Taurus Mountains. Here, you can witness soft volcanic rock valleys, caves, rock-cut churches, and underground tunnel complexes that date back to the Byzantine and Islamic eras, scattered throughout the place.

On the fourth day, visit the famous sites of Cappadocia. Start by visiting the Göreme Open-Air Museum, which features rock-cut monasteries decorated with beautifully frescoed walls and scenic landscapes. These monasteries were built in the early 10th century. The multi-level Uçhisar Castle, with roots, carved out of rocks and connected by scales and passages, is the prime tourist attraction of Cappadocia, and you will be amazed by its rustic beauty.

Next, visit the Imaginary Valley or Pink Valley, also known as Devrent Valley, where the rock formations resemble animals like camels, snakes, seals, and dolphins. You can also enjoy a hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia and get a bird’s eye view of the city.

Day 5:

On the fifth day, fly back to Istanbul from Cappadocia. Once you arrive, take a scenic Bosphorus Cruise that sails between Europe and Asia. You can easily book tickets online, and I will share the link in the description box below.

Day 6:

On the sixth day, fly from Istanbul to Athens. From the Athens airport, the city center is approximately 42 kilometers away and can take between 50 minutes to an hour to reach by taxi.

Day 7:

On the seventh day, explore the local sights of Athens. The prime attraction of Athens is the Acropolis, a landmark of the city with many ancient ruins located here. The Parthenon is the most famous building in Athens, standing majestically on top of the Acropolis mountain. This temple is dedicated to the goddess Athena, the patron of Athens, built to thank her for protecting Athens during the Persian War.

Another important place to visit on the Acropolis mountain is the Ancient Agora, an ancient marketplace and civic center where people gathered to meet others. Don’t miss the Temple of Hephaestus, also known as the Hephaisteion or the Theseion. It was built in the 5th century BC and is one of the best-preserved ancient temples in Greece.

Located on the Acropolis, the Erechtheum was an ancient sanctuary dedicated to Athena Polias, Poseidon, and Erechtheus. Lastly, visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the largest temple in Greece dedicated to Zeus, king of the Olympian gods. Another important site to visit is the Temple of Zeus. Although the temple is in ruins now, you can still see 15 out of the 104 huge columns. In the evening, you can visit the huge marketplace Monastiraki and collect souvenirs.

Day 8:

On the eighth day, go to another beautiful Greek island, Santorini, from Athens. Its rugged landscape and romantic solitude of beachside resorts by the agency Kamari and Perissa offer countless water activities for the entire family.

Day 9:

On the ninth day, visit the prime tourist attractions of Santorini. The main places to visit here are Caldera, the world’s only submerged caldera a thousand feet over the sea level, and the principal attraction of Santorini. The stunning black sand beach, Perissa Beach, is another important place to see in Santorini. Next, enjoy a tour of the most stunning village, Oia, on this island.

Day 10:

On the tenth day, head back to Athens for departure.
