Google Search for desktop gets dark mode

Google started working on dark mode for Search on the web soon after it introduced the feature on Android last year. Now, word is that the company has started rolling out the feature across the globe.

The Next Web’s Matt Navarra reported that dark theme has slowly started making its way to Google Search users accessing the service on Windows 10 and macOS powered devices. “Google ‘dark theme’ on the desktop is rolling out,” he wrote in a Twitter thread demonstrating the service.

Android Central reports that you will know if you have received the dark theme on your desktop browser when you see the ‘Dark Theme is now available’ notification in Google Search for the web. The report also says that the feature is not limited to the company’s Chrome browser. The feature also works when users access it from other popular web browsers, which includes Mozilla’s Firefox and Microsoft’s Edge.

If you have received the ‘Dark Theme is now available’ notification in Google Search for web, here are the steps that you need to follow to enable dark theme on Google Search: Open Google Search on your web browser > Click on the Settings button on the bottom of the page > Select Search Settings > Scroll down to the Appearances section > Select the dark theme and you are good to go!
